A little about me.

I am a Master's level clinician (LCMHC) specializing in neurodiversity, with a focus on ADHD, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, and OCD. My professional journey has taken me through various clinical roles, providing me with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by neurodivergent individuals. My personal connection to neurodiversity uniquely informs my approach, as I am neurodiverse myself, and my husband and children share the same neurodiverse experiences.

Throughout my career, I've worked as a psychotherapist in a mental health emergency department, offering immediate support to children in crises, many of whom were neurodivergent. Additionally, I've served as an inpatient psychotherapist, closely collaborating with adults managing severe mental health challenges often associated with neurodiversity.

One of the highlights of my career was working as the lead psychotherapist in neuropsychology on the spinal cord unit at the 16th-ranked rehabilitation hospital in the US. This experience provided me with invaluable insights into the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals at various life stages. It enhanced my understanding of the complex interplay between mental and physical health.

My dedication to professional development is a core principle of my practice. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I graduated with distinction, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from The University of Louisville. I've also pursued advanced continuing education in autism, neuropsychiatric disorders, and psychopharmacology from Harvard Medical School, further enhancing my expertise in these areas.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and our two energetic boys – they certainly keep life interesting! Professionally, I am genuinely passionate about psychology, and I have a penchant for delving into the intricacies of the human mind. Additionally, I find documentaries to be both enlightening and enjoyable. These personal interests inform my professional approach, enhancing my ability to connect with clients, particularly in the domain of neurodiversity, in a comprehensive and empathetic manner. My personal experience with neurodiversity not only fuels my professional dedication but also allows me to relate to my clients on a more personal level, creating a deeper and more meaningful therapeutic connection.

What’s it like to work with me

As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, I assist individuals in overcoming negative thoughts that hinder their progress. While our thoughts are not typically the issue, our actions stemming from those thoughts often create challenges. I work closely with clients to tackle distorted thoughts and underlying core beliefs contributing to conflicts and obstacles in their lives. Together, we explore and address these cognitive patterns to promote positive change and personal growth.

I adopt a direct and empathetic approach. Many of my clients present significant challenges that require a tailored and focused treatment approach. I firmly believe in the importance of compassionate confrontation while prioritizing the utmost respect for my clients' boundaries. It is vital to me that the therapeutic process is genuinely beneficial for each individual, and I strive to create a supportive and empowering environment.
